Sancte Joseph, Patrone Morientium, Ora Pro Nobis, “Saint Joseph, Patron of the Dying, Pray for Us.” St. Joseph, who is presumed to have died in the arms of Jesus and Mary, is the patron of a happy death. In the painting he presents the dying person (Lucy Ortiz, mother of Fr. Arnold Ortiz, O.S.J. and of the artist) to the loving Heart of Jesus.
