Nativity
Contrary to the iconographic canon, the figure of St. Joseph is placed in the center of the composition, right over the figures of the Virgin and Child, instead of in the usual left corner. This arrangement of the figures was supposed to emphasize the importance of St. Joseph. Armenian New Testament Parchment (MS6792), in E. Korkhmazian, I. Drampian, G. Hakopian; “Armenian Manuscripts of the 13th and 14th centuries,” Leningrad, 1984. Armenica.org.
